The Philips BF356A is a vintage tabletop radio receiver produced around 1955 in Paris. It is a classic example of 1950s European consumer electronics, often characterized as a "bedside" or compact table radio
The BF356A belongs to a period when Philips was transitioning through post war recovery to become the world's largest radio manufacturer, producing stylish, reliable domestic radios.
Sympathetically restored the original MW / LW valve based receiver technology has been disconnected and appropriate bluetooth board added.
Still making use of the on/off switch and the original speaker with it's soft deep tone this unit also incorporates a 'faux' magic eye, originally used to aid tuning. This rare and beautiful unit is truly a talking piece as well as a slice of history. There are some minor scuff marks to the front corner of the case on this particular example which can be seen in the photos
Radio Dimensions - 370 x 270 x 170 mm
Please note:- Although the original chassis and valves etc have been left in the case this is now purely a bluetooth speaker. We do try to source the highest quality original radio donors that we can find to convert but, bearing in mind, some of these radios are nearly 70 years old, please do not expect these items to be in 'fresh out the box' condition. We refurbish within the limitations of the original radio condition and will always be honest and up front about any minor damage which may have occurred it's lifetime. Please bear this in mind before pressing the 'Buy' button
